Florida Statute 6A-1.09512. states there is an Equivalent Minimum School Term for Compulsory Attendance. 

 

A minimum of one hundred seventy (170) actual school days and the hourly equivalent of one hundred eighty (180) actual school days, determined as prescribed below:

(a) Kindergarten: Five hundred forty (540) net instructional hours.

(b) Grades 1-3: Seven hundred twenty (720) net instructional hours.

(c) Grades 4-12: Nine hundred (900) net instructional hours.

To provide our students with strong literacy foundations our students in grades K-12 receive 5.5 hours of daily instruction for 171 school days.  This is equivalent to  940.5 hours of instruction per year which is 40.5 hour more than the minimum required for grade 4-12, 220.5 hours more for grades 1-3 and 400.5 more hours than the KG minimum. Attendance is important. Please be sure your student is here for instruction. Should they be absent please provide a written note. If they are ill more than 3 days or out for a medical reasons please provide a doctors note.

In order for a McKay student to be eligible for a quarterly payment, the student must have attended for at least ten school days during that payment period. Rule 6A-6.0970(5)(d) and (e), F.A.C.
